Eating Like Kings and Queens

Senior Living

A very important part of seniors staying healthy as they age is eating a well-balanced diet. Choosing healthy foods can help you have energy, get the proper nutrients needed, and maintain a healthy weight. Not only that, but it can lower your risk of developing chronic health conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes. At Fellowship Square-Mesa, our residents rave about our healthy meals, generous portions, personalized accommodations, and varietal menu offerings that taste delicious and have no shortage of choices.

Our meals, prepared by our experienced culinary staff, are served fresh in our restaurant-style dining roomon a daily basis during breakfast (7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.), lunch (11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), and dinner (3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.). Here you won’t find a typical cafeteria or buffet setup that you may see on many other senior living campuses. Instead, made-to-order meals from our comprehensive menu are served to each senior, as they connect with others or enjoy a peaceful feast to themselves. Each week, this daily menu includes a new list of four choices for each inclusion: appetizer, entree, accompaniment, and dessert. “Healthier Choice of Entree” recommendations are also provided with a designated heart icon. It’s not a bad day when you can start off with a tropical fruit cup or soup for an appetizer, enjoy a salmon steak with apricot glaze entrée accompanied by brown rice or onion rings, and top it off with red velvet cake or a tasty ice cream flavor of your choice. Our residents also love having a long list of drinks to choose from and switch up during the week, including a plethora of juices and hot drinks.

At Fellowship Square-Mesa, we know personalized accommodations are appreciated when it comes to enjoying food. To this measure, our seniors may inquire with their server on any special requests, such as having their meat served without the sauce or ordering a sugar-free dessert alternative. A food council is even in place so that residents can express different ideas related to the menu and discuss meal options to meet health needs. A unique touch that our kitchen staff has incorporated is the use of “Resident Recipe” meals served and highlighted on the dining menu. This provides residents with a way to share their history and love of cooking with others while not having to prepare the meals themselves; not to mention it’s a fun topic of conversation. When life calls for a special celebration or separated meet-up, we provide residents with the use of our private dining room for connecting with family members and friends. This includes a formal dining table for eight people, wall-mounted television for viewing a video or slideshow, a personal server, and a clear plastic screen for the center of the table if there are COVID-19 concerns while you dine.

The menu plans at our resort-style senior living campus have been prepared by our culinary staff with a focus on 24/7 availability, knowing that not all residents are on the same dining schedule. A “To Go” menu with burgers, sandwiches, drinks, and treats is also available for dining at home; residents simply call the Dining Room for meal deliveries. When seniors don’t want to take advantage of one of the 25 meals included per month, they have the option of making meals or baking using their apartment’s fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized flattop stove, dishwasher, and microwave.

So, is it time to eat yet? If you find yourself at the Fellowship Square-Mesa dining room for a meal or tour of our property, here’s a tip: the ice cream and cookies are always a delicious choice. Stop by and see (taste) for yourself—it’s on us!
